As former US president Jimmy Carter has entered hospice care in his home in Plains, Georgia, there have been many stories about his post-presidency achievements, including his work on helping to end the terrible scourge of Guinea worm. There was this story in the Los Angeles Times on Feb. 27, 2023, for example: In his final days, Jimmy Carter on cusp of a humanitarian goal: Eradicating a parasitic worm.
